With over four decades of legal experience, Jon Derrevere is a seasoned mediator and trial attorney. Graduating with Highest Honors from the University of Florida and earning his Juris Doctor from Cornell University, Jon’s career has been marked by a relentless pursuit of justice and excellence.

As a trial attorney, Jon has tried more than 200 cases to jury verdict, showcasing his formidable courtroom skills. He specializes in complex litigation, particularly in construction, product liability, professional liability, and large-loss recovery claims. In construction litigation, Jon has represented a diverse array of clients, including Design Professionals, Contractors, and Owners, adeptly handling claims involving design defects, delays, and cost overruns.

 

Beyond his role as an advocate, Jon serves as a trusted mediator and arbitrator, facilitating constructive dialogue and fair resolutions. Admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Florida, Jon’s legal acumen extends across the United States.

 

A member of the American Bar Association, Jon is not only a practitioner but also a thought leader in his field, having published articles on various aspects of construction litigation.

Bryan W. Black

Hailing from a lineage deeply rooted in Florida, Bryan W. Black brings a wealth of experience and a profound understanding of the local legal landscape to our mediation practice group. Graduating from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Law, and later earning his law degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, Bryan’s journey in law has been marked by dedication and excellence.

 

Joining our firm as an Associate in 2005 and swiftly ascending to Partner in 2006, Bryan has demonstrated exceptional legal prowess and leadership. Admitted to the Middle and Southern Federal District Courts, as well as the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, Bryan’s legal expertise spans across various jurisdictions.

 

In addition to his role as an esteemed attorney, Bryan also serves as a private mediator, adept at fostering constructive dialogue and facilitating fair resolutions. He is a proud member of esteemed organizations such as the American Institute of Architects (Allied member) and the Florida East Coast Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.

 

Bryan’s practice areas encompass a wide spectrum, including complex construction, civil litigation, professional liability insurance defense, premises liability, products liability, architectural and engineering defense, toxic tort, commercial contracts and agreements, corporate and business transactions, and insurance agent/broker errors and omissions cases. James Suarez embodies the essence of a client-centric approach to law, bringing a unique blend of expertise and dedication to our mediation practice group. A graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, cum laude, James continued his academic journey at The George Washington University Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1999.

 

Admitted to practice law in the State of Florida the same year, James embarked on a dynamic legal career characterized by continuous growth and unwavering commitment to his clients. Beginning as a commercial litigator in a Miami boutique law firm, James honed his skills in navigating complex legal disputes.

 

Driven by a passion for learning and evolving, James transitioned to a prominent South Florida law firm, where he expanded his practice areas to include insurance defense, professional liability, negligence, and third-party litigation. His expertise further flourished as he represented various insurance carriers in First Party Litigation, gaining invaluable insights into the intricacies of insurance law.

 

James’s diverse background and comprehensive understanding of civil litigation serve as the cornerstone of his effectiveness as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator. In 2024, James joined our firm as a Partner, bringing his wealth of experience and unwavering dedication to our mediation practice group.

 

Fluent in Spanish and with a passion for travel, James enjoys connecting with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures, fostering an atmosphere of understanding and empathy in every mediation session.
